| FORMS OF OUR
SPIRITUAL FAMILY: We have experienced three realities which form the "spiritual family of the Beatitudes". They are: - The Friends of The Lamb - The Beatitudes of The Holy Family - Residential Members of the Community of the Beatitudes (house-members or those spending a period of time in a house). |

These three realities are three different calls, involving a commitment to the same family. It is therefore vital to discern each vocation before entering into any one of them. There are also other 'realities' associated with those mentioned where the members do not make a commitment to the Beatitudes family but are more or less linked all the same (e.g. The Apostolate 'Mother of Mercy'). There are also many 'invisible' friends, since belonging to a spiritual family is shown by one's relationship with God and not by the actions accomplished. These are 'members of allegiance' to the Community who are nourished and live by its spirituality (prayer; weekly and yearly liturgical rhythm; abandonment to Providence; family hospitality…) They are an extension, a blossoming of the reality of community in society, because they feel called to be in society, there where they work, with their parish and Church commitments etc. Unlike residential community members, they do not leave-all so as to lead a communal life of radical sharing but they do feel called to work with the Community in the heart of the Church, according to their own gifts and callings, there where they are, in the spirituality of the Beatitudes and in submission to the Community. Their role may be lived-out in different ways according to each person's gifts. It is recognized by the Community through a mission statement. The Community could entrust a mission which is a fruit of its own charism, but it could also recognize a mission given by the pastoral and apostolic authority of a Bishop. The idea of service is important: service of the Lord and of one's brothers and sisters in society from the anchor-point of the Community, which is also a place of fellowship and of discernment. These members are described as "members in heart" and are informally linked to the Community. They are friends to a specific house and meet together with other Friends of the Lamb for sharing, formation and prayer from time to time. They are spiritually nourished by the Community and play a more or less active role in the life of the house whenever this is possible. They commit themselves to living according to the spirituality of the Beatitudes, to supporting the house to which they are attached, and being involved in the Church's mission. They receive support from the Community in terms of prayer and through being attached to one of the houses of the Community. In summary: Each
individual member feels called to work with the Community while
remaining in
society. They
are financially and materially autonomous and they live: A
life of prayer and spiritual guidance according to the spirituality of
the
Beatitudes. Abandonment
to Divine Providence through tithing one-tenth of their income, and
living in a
spirit of poverty. Openness
and hospitality to all. Service
through a recognized mission in the Church which also constitutes a
presence of
the Community in society. Sometimes
they will establish a presence of the Community in areas where the
residential
expression cannot be lived. Are
members in heart who are nourished by the spirituality of the Community
and are
committed to the Church. Are
committed to diffusing and radiating the spirit of the Beatitudes and
in
practicing the spirit of poverty through tithing one-tenth of their
income. Their
commitment is made to a specific house of the Community. |
